I thought it was Ecklie who had promoted him? (But I guess Cath would have that responsibility) Even after many decades, it seems that male dominance is still more important than the fact that the show is slowly going in the downwards direction. I mean in the credits Ray is first, when it should be Catherine because she is supervisor, and he should be AFTER Cath, Nick and Greg, who are all level three and more deserving of the attention.
Although that would be an interesting storyline, and they do seem to be going in that direction with Ray's promotion and Riley quitting (though I can't say I miss her) because of poor team skills.
Like I said before, we NEED more femininity on the show!

I think Catherine would have to reccomend to Ecklie that he be promoted but Ecklie would be the one to sign the official papers Do you find this valuable?

I think Fishburne is ok, I somehow feel he is going to go rogue here pretty soon. He is NOT Grissom though! My mom says she doesnt like Fishburne. Of course, she said that about Riley Adams and now she is gone and my mom is upset LOL.

Its gonna be interesting to see what happens......

I really think he's becoming far too dominant for a 'rookie'. I agree with your mother, I didn't like either characters, but I did not feel any remorse when Riley left. I think they are slowly losing the plot, and they need to put each character in her/his respective place before I get REALLY crabby. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Feel free to tell me I'm nuts if you think I am!...BUT...to me the perfect actor to have replaced Petersen would have been an older, experienced role-model...but with some humor...but also some hard-line common sense and a touch of "bossism"...and I'm thinking of former Senator Fred Thompson (also former "prosecutor" on 'Law 'n' Order'...and I miss his curmudgeon-type style and personality from that show.) 2  out of 3 found this valuable. They should have looked for a character like the one who played Gidion on Criminal minds.
That actor showed humor at times, extreme knowledge without stepping on others toes, and kept to himself like Grissom.

Yeah, a good choice would have either been someone similar to Grissom or completely different (but the actor/actress would have to be really good). Also maybe not someone as famous as Fishburne, as it isn't unfair to the others who have only been in minor films or TV series that his extra popularity should gain more attention. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Fred Thompson would make a great sheriff on CSI someone who would make Ecklie crap his pants when he entered a room. Some one who understands that fighting crime needs more than police and prosecutors to get convictions. Maybe make him an old frienemy of Sam Brauns.

Your are NUT's if you think anyone could replace Grissom, not Thompson or Fishbourne could ever do that. Anyone they brought in is only filling a void in the cast. Proof check out the ratings since WP left decent enough but nowhere near the levels that WP as Grissom brought in.

I would have preferred that they brought in someone completely different than Grissom. I felt they were headed in the right direction when they brought in Riley. I don't necessarily mean her personality but someone younger, a different background, etc. By bringing in someone older - no matter who it was - there would always be a tendency to compare him/her to Grissom.

I still feel it was disrespectful to the remaining cast that the producers brought in someone with a big star name to headline because it was tantamount to saying the remaining cast was incapable of sustaining the show. Although Grissom was a huge, huge part of CSI, everyone else also had huge parts in making CSI into the world-renowned show that it is. It was downright insulting.

Okay, Desertwind (or Mrs. Fishburne...whichever) this will be my eighth post on here to show disdain for the personality, style, temperament, acting ability and casting of Laurence Fishburne, while you have posted twelve declaring him to be another Laurence (Olivier?) Obviously we'll never agree, so maybe we should just end our feud and let CSI's producers decide whatever they are going to decide. I don't care how "big" Fishburne's name is, or how tremendous he was in some movie or another...he still has NEVER been right for this show.
HOWEVER, I'll have to admit that I'm the idiot who sent a pm to Sarauk56, telling him he looked so handsome in his picture, I wondered if he himself was an actor.
Then I enlarged "his" picture...and it's William Petersen.
So yeah, definitely, GOODBYE!!!

FEUD, Funny, I don't have a feud with anyone on here, I think he's a great choice the writers did choose him and he's perfect in this job. To each is own I'm a hard-core Grissom/Billy fan but he's GONE, and they totally different and I resent the implications that I'm comparing him to the other great actor. You said that, not me. I don't think he's like anyone anywhere, do you mind If I like him? apparently the writers and all the cast does too! Everyone I know likes him, I only find distain on here & that's sad. He's so good in this role> If I disliked a character on any show that much I wouldn't watch it. So I am just defending my enjoyment of this newbie and that's it~~~And your just a nameless facless fan who has a different view. I will continue to post my enjoyment of him, and it's kinda of weird that your counting my posts. I never noticed yours~

I leave for one day and all this fighting start up. Desertwind, I think you are losing a battle here, as most of us think that he is not suitable for CSI. For us, he has come off as bland, boring, far too over appreciated rookie. While you only find disdain here, me and my group of die-hard CSI fans also do not like his character, and I have found other sites that both like and dislike him (sorry, i just dont think its sad to not like a character). I think that if you watch a show even if there is a person you severely dislike it just shows how dedicated towards the show you are. I understand that you are just showing your views of him, but here we are mainly anti-Ray, so some people may not appreciate it.
Some people like him, others dont. Everyone is entitled to their view of Langston/Fishburne, so please dont make this an argument, just a debate between fans about a new character. Any meanness can be taken elsewhere, and it will be appreciated

Okay, how about Anthony Edwards (Mark Green from ER) as a dweebish but experienced CSI from the midwest who wants to working in the 2nd busiest Crime Lab in the US. He could have all the qualifications and experience in the world but be totally overwhelmed with the amount of work and complexities of the cases that our crew deals with on a daily basis. Anthony Edwards could play a science nerd since his starred in the greatest nerd movie of all times "Revenge of the Nerds". 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Although I've never seen ER he sounds like a good choice; Catherine would have to mentor him, like Grissom did to Greg and she would learn more about her responsibility. Although...
That would mean another male for the show, which just has too much. A female with the same qualities as Anthony Edwards sounds good, I have no names because I don't watch a lot of films. So far they have Cath, Mandy, Wendy and Sara, who is only staying temporarily. More women is all I ask! (And for Fishburne to go away.)
By the way, Happy Halloween everyone!!!

First and foremost there is NO fignting here. It's call it's called "a difference of opinions" and in the minority that's another opinion, they did get rid of Lauren Lee Smith, because she wasn't popular but he is>I thnk he rocks Watched 'One To Go" where Grissom offers him the job as a consultant last night, I find him mysterious, he can be, calm yet exciting, open yet seems to be hiding a secret. Doc and him are so bonded and Nick adores him as the rest of the team does. He's a multi-faceted actor. He's unique and not like anybody I've ever seen. I'm not attracted to him or have a crush on him, just think ht's a great addition to the CSI team. And the 3/way Crossover will be sensational. And it there are fans who don't care for him that's there opinion, and never the twains meet. There's one character on the show that I can't stand but don't post my dislike, due to the fact I don't want to offend another fan who may in fact like this particular character. 1  out of 3 found this valuable. I can't wait to see Dr. Ray in the crossover how wonderful, to see him with Horatio and Mac, it looks awesome, It will be a trilogy to remember for a long time that 's for sure, and the whole teams from all 3 will participate in this sensational episodes~ 1  out of 3 found this valuable.
