I am not sure but in Greece you must have Master in a science and when a place is empty they hire you.Propably get trained when you are hired for a couple of weeks or something. If you have a Master in a science forensics should be a piece of cake

"I am not sure but isn't it called SOCO from Officers ?Yes our CSI's in the UK or forensic workers are called 'Scene of crimes officers' (SOCO for short) so they actually have to become a police officer first i think. Do you find this valuable? |

I don't know but frankly I always hated this system. Some officers are good CSIs but many that just go there because a relative or whatever is on a high level don't know a thing !In Greece you just have to go to Academy of Sergeants and with a lot of luck you become a CSI! If you choose the science field you will have to finish university, face unemployment and take a Master. And then if you are lucky and there are open positions you get hired ! Either ways they make it look like becoming a SWAT member is easier than becoming a CSI ! Do you find this valuable? |

"CSIs and Crime Scene Technicians,Photographers have often few commons... :("No perhaps not, but i know someone who was taking a photography course along with other sciences to try to build up a good education package to get into forensics, i've not heard from them in a while so i don't know if they are making any headway with it. hmm...yeah I am pretty sceptical about this...Photographers should be photographers, computer geeks should be Archies (The guy from CSI),mechanics should be techniciansbut after all should only scientis be CSIs ? Well Forensics is a science on its own so if a photographer is good at it then he is a good scientist and a good CSI :) Do you find this valuable? |

Well I wish someone could answer question for me with some sort of know how. I mean, I have worked so hard and I'm almost done with my Bachelor's in Criminal Justice, now it seems I won't be able to be a crime scene investigator. Some say I'm getting it confused with forensic analysts, but it seems that even to be the one collecting evidence from crime scenes in the US you either have to have been a cop, or you need a hard science degree. I wish someone could tell me honestly that I haven't made a mistake.

Well look.In many states in the US they require officer trainining (O_o).I am sure that if you collect about 20 crime lab phones and try asking them if a Cr.Justice degree is enough to work for them, once there will be a blank posiiton they will hire you
