- Lightly sprinkle the powder over the place you left your fingerprint.
- Gently blow the loose powder away.

- Being very careful, use the tape and gently place it on your newly discovered fingerprint, but be careful not to smudge it.
- Gently lift the tape up, you should be able to see your fingerprint on the tape.
- Place the tape with the fingerprint on a clean piece of white paper or white card.
- If everything went well, your should be looking at your fingerprint on the piece of paper.

You will need
How to
This DIY CSI can be found in the second Issue of the CSI Magazine. Thanks to them for this DIY CSI.
- Sticky tape
- White card
- Large Piece of white paper
How to
- This DIY consists of two methods, but first you need to find a room with lots of trace evidence.
- Method 1:
- Start lifting the trace evidence using your tape. (on the back of chairs, on the carpet...)
- Once you've collected the trace on your tape, being careful, peel the tape back and stick it to your white card.
- Do this many times around the room your processing!
- Method 2:
- If you have things in your room you can shake (pillow, mats...) the trace evidence off, you should use this next method.
- Place the large piece of white paper on the floor.
- Shake your object over the large piece of white paper. Your trace evidence will fall onto the paper.
- Pick up the trace by using the tape like before.
- Once your finish collecting all the trace evidence, you can start analyzing it. It's usually done using very hi-teach instruments, but you probably don't have any at home. If you have a microscope, you can analyze your evidence with that. If you don't have anything, then just use your eyes.
- Did you figure out what you've collected?
Ever wondered how lab techs tests for suspicious materialos such as drugs?
You will need:
Thanks to - A saucepan
- A strainer
- A jug
- Clean water
- 2 red cabbage leaves
- 3 tablespoons(45ml) of lemon juice

- Add the lemon juice to glass #1
- Add the vinegar to glass #2

If your using a microscope to look at your trace make sure its a newish one. The only one i had was my grandad's microscope and i'm pretty sure it used to be his grandad's. It's the kind that you use fire as a light. Anyway, my trace evidence caught on fire.
Do you find this valuable?
