David Bohr - possibly named after the Bohr effect of an oxygen dissociation curve. The amount of O2 carried and released by Hb depends not only on the pO2 but also on pH. An acidic environment causes HbO2 to dissociate (unload) to release the O2 to the tissues. Just a small decrease in the pH results in a large decrease in the percentage saturation of the blood with O2. Acidity depends on the concentration of hydrogen ions. H+ displaces O2 from the HbO2, thus increasing the O2 available to the respiring tissues. H+ + HbO2 ® HHb + O2. This means that the Hb mops up free H+. That way the Hb helps to maintain the almost neutral pH of the blood. Hb acts as a buffer. This release of O2 when the pH is low (even if the pO2 is relatively high) is called the Bohr effect.

Long time without an episode as good as this one. Everything was perfect: the crimes and the relation between them, the cameo with Jamie and Adam mythbusters, the relation between the lab rats (it is obvious as the CSI get together the lab rats do the same on their own), even a little reference of GSR: Grissom talking about string theory (Sara is a physics major and the string theory is huge in physics...). KUDOS for this episode!!!!

The part that cracked me up was when I saw Nick doing the test on the non-police-standard pepper spray, and there is Jamie and Adam from the show Mythbusters in lab coats watching from behind the glass.

It was cute the way Hodges and Wendy danced around the Star Trek trivia and tried to one up each other. Their snarkiness towards one and other seems to indicate that there has been a change in attitude in Wendy towards Hodgiepoo. It was kind of funny how Mandy and Henry seemed to know a lot about Hodges including the fact that he lives with his mother and maybe if he wanted a real relationship a place of his own would work wonders.
