Plot of primary crime:

Victim: Sara Sidle
Path of evidence: Miniature with a doll of Sara under a car. Sara's car keys, Crime Scene Kits, and Cell Phone are found in her car, suspect Natalie Davis taken into custody. The Car that Natalie used is found, muddy and damaged, towed to the CSI garage and examined by Warrick and Grissom.
Dead ends: The car is found in the desert but Sara not under it, eventually we find her wandering in the desert.

Best cringe-inducing scenes:

  • A dead body is found in the desert covered in sand when they are looking for Sara.
  • Sara is fights to continue to move on but finally passes out from heat exhaustion.
  • Nick and Sofia driving in the car, Nick shouting at Sofia to stop the car after seeing a flash of light, form the rear view mirror that Sara took from the car, go towards the crumpled figure of Sara as he spots her in his binoculars.
  • Sara does not have a pulse at first.
  • The look in Natalie's eyes--totally demented.
  • Grissom is investigating the miniature car, while Sara is fighting to release herself from the under the car while the area is flooded with water.
  • Grissom pouring water over the miniature car with the figure of Sara was underneath and sees what happens if the area was to flood
  • Sara breaks her own arm in her struggle to pull herself free from the rising water while trapped under the car, it already had one break from when the car was lowered on it.
  • Sara escape the trunk into the back seat, and tries to fight Natalie. Natalie head breaks the drivers side window. Sara jumps out of a fast moving car before Sara blacks out Natalie stands over her watching Sara exact facial moves before she looses consciousness.



Aha! moments:

  • Grissom and Catherine finding Sara's clue; the rocks stacked upon each other.
  • Sara lives!
  • Nick kicking a bed and then having a flashback about him and Sara talking about death. We then see Nick getting teary-eyed.
  • In the car with Natalie, Sara talks about being in Foster Care, her father, and then tells Natalie that Ernie Dell loved her and wouldn't have wanted her to hurt any more people. Natalie said that Ernie loved her more than Grissom would ever love Sara. Sara then says, ""Grissom...?" "I know what this is about." She then realizes she is drugged, and passes out.
  • Grissom's famous "I took away the only person she ever loved, and now she's going to the same to me." remark to the team.


Romantic moments:

  • Grissom jumps in the helicopter with Sara
  • Sara opening her eyes to see Grissom's name in her haze
  • Grissom holds Sara's hand in the helicopter.
  • A flashback to the "chalk" scene is Scuba Doobie Doo.
  • Sara is in the elevator before her kidnapping when her phone rings. She picks it up and immediately grins answering, "Hello, Gilbert."
  • The way Griss says Sara's name.
  • "I took away the only person she ever loved, and now she's going to do the same to me."

This episode "Dead Doll" was picked as Best First Impression by the members of Yahoo Entertainment community. An excellent choice. It had more suppense than any other show on television this year, Writer Strike or no Writer Strike.

Eveytime I see the episodes of Sara in the desert, I cry! I see the same one over and over, but same thing. It's so sad! I always say "don't die!" over and over too, even though I know she doesn't die.

I had read all the fan fics for this episode as I could find, i thought all the ideas had been used, but i was wrong. the only thing is i thought that after Nick had that flashback, he should of said "It's not your time, Sara, its not your time" that would of been perfict, i mean, we all know he was thinking it righ?
