Synopsis: A raped victim identifies her attacker from a line-up, after correctly giving the investigators his license plate number and physical description. DNAs recovered, however, indicate that the suspect is not guilty, as only 7 out of the 13 alleles matched, which suggest that the rapist is a relative. The suspect's brothers are all tested for their DNAs and none are a positive match. The resolution of this investigation is a shock to everyone due to the rarity of a genetic condition.

A/V Evidence: Linely frantically calls Catherine, and subsequently goes missing; her car is found on Fremont Street. Linely's phone GPS leads Catherine, Nick and Grissom to her body in the desert.

DNA Evidence: The semen sample taken from Linley matches that of an open rape/murder case from a year ago in an area not far from where Linely was assaulted, also with a size 9 footprint logged as evidence. Dr Coombs is cleared as the rapist and released, though the DNA sample indicates that the attacker was a male sibling. His brothers are tested, but neither match. A hair is found on Linely Parker's body, identified as a positive match for Dr. Todd Coombs, who is again brought in for questioning. Grissom sees strange markings on Todd Coombs' back, consistent with Chimerism, a genetic condition in which a single body contains the DNA of two people, in this case, the DNA of a twin brother who died in the womb.

Evidence Against Suspect: Linley's car is found abandoned in woodland near the house with a size 9 footprint. Linely identifies the car that tailgated her as a black SUV with 446 on a Nevada licence plate and a forensic artist helps her in creating a sketch of her attacker. The body is discovered to be on the land of Kevin Coombs, another brother, but his DNA is also cleared.

Motive: Dr Todd Coombs used his genetic condition to his advantage; his sperm DNA was not consistent throughout his body, and consequently when he raped a woman the DNA would not match a sample taken from his mouth. He raped Linely initially, and then after she had identified him as her attacker, raped, murdered her and dumped her on her brother's property in the desert.

The CSI thought the evidence lied. But it turned out that they missed a common link. The V-shaped pattern on Todd Coombs' back indicated that he had a twin brother who died in the womb. Oops.

I guess that I have not seen this episode. Why was Sara Driving under the influenance? Or did it ever say.
