Season Two Finale

Plot of primary crime:

Victim: Ashleigh James
Path of Evidence:
  • Over-sized and holey coat in victim's closet
  • A man's personal effects in victim's home
  • Botox and needles in victim's home
  • Shopping cart Ashleigh was found in had magazines and newspapers all with her pictures on them.
  • Note saying, "...you'll live to regret this..." relating to a relationship with the victim and someone else.
  • Ring from Homeless Woman
  • Scarf from Homeless Man
  • Beauty tools from victim's home

Catherine in Ashleigh's Apartment
Suspects:
  • Rod Darling, Ashleigh's agent
  • Frank McBride, writer of note in Ashleigh's car
  • Cassie James, sister of victim and Homeless Woman
    Motive
: Cassie was formerly a model, and when she broke down, her sister picked up where she left off.

Conclusion:

Ashleigh was the one who mutilated herself by picking away at her skin (hence the blood in the sink, but not the floor), and gave herself the fatal injection of Botox as a result of her self-image problems. Her sister, Cassie, found her, and took her in the shopping cart to the underpass where she could see the billboard with her face on it so that she may see how beautiful she really was. The 'code' in her day planner was Ashleigh trying to 'break even' with her weight and calories.

Best cringe-inducing scenes:

When Ashleigh James is being pre by Grissom, a rat emerges from her mouth.

Ashleigh James Using scissors to pick parts or her face away.

Memorable Quotes:

[in lab, Sara at microscope, Grissom examining coat]
Sidle: "I got crabs..."
[looks up]
Grissom: "Excuse me?"
Sidle: "I got crabs. See, look."
[backs away from microscope]

[to homeless person]
Grissom: "I've got a gal named Sara and she would love that scarf. What do you say, trade me?"
[holds up jacket] Homeless Man: "Yeah, what the hell."

[after Grissom trades flashlight for ring on Homeless Woman]
Homeless Woman: "Now I can see what the dark looks like."
Grissom: "I've been trying to do that for years."

[voice-over for cross-scene's of Grissom in doctor's office and on The Strip]
Grissom: "Obviously most of crime scene investigations is about seeing. But most of it about hearing as well. Listening, knowing how to listen. Not just what people are saying, but how they say it. How their tone of voice matches their facial expressions or body posture. So even if I read lips, and know what they're saying, it's not enough."

Aha! moments:

Sara cracks Ashleigh's planner code as BDD, that she was keeping track of how much she ate, and how much she purged. Grissom begins losing his hearing, and almost gets hit by a car.

Romantic Moments:

Grissom walks down the streets of Las Vegas as Robbie Robertson's "Unbound" plays. The lyrics "I am drawn/I am drawn to her/Like a moth to flame/She leads me down/Unbound" play as Grissom finds Sara standing alone at the crime scene.
