213 | Identity Crisis

[ Original air date: January 17, 2002]
Episode #36

<< Back to Season 2

Plot of primary crime:
A man picks up a hitchhiker and ends up dead in a bathtub inside an empty warehouse, suspiciously like two murders from Season 1.

Victim: Pete Walker
Path of evidence: Same M.O. as Paul Millander, the serial killer who made Halloween prosthetics. For the benefit of the viewer, Millander's face and voice are clearly recognizable when he is picked up by Pete Walker from the side of the road.

Pete Walker's wallet & ID were found at the scene: his birth date is August 17th, 1957, continuing Millander's trend of killing men whose birthdays fall on the same date as his father's execution-style murder took place at the hands of two security guards in 1959. Tape recorder left at the scene with a similar recording of the victim's own voice reciting an all-to-familiar script. A gunshot follows, and then the smoky voice of Millander quipping: "Happy birthday, Mr. Grissom."
Grissom's own birthday is August 17th, 1956...
Dead ends: Print coming back as Judge Mason

Plot of secondary crime:

Victim: Isabelle Millander
CoD: Stabbed
Path of evidence:
Dead ends:
Suspect: Pauline Paul Millander.

Classic quips:
Catherine: What do you think brought him [Paul Millander] out again?
Grissom: The rain...?

Nick: We work together, he can't outsmart all five of us.
Grissom: Yes he can.

Aha! moments:
We find out Paul Millander used to be a girl, Pauline
.
